Rocket Espresso R58 Espresso Machine: Review

Rocket Espresso R58 Espresso Machine: An In-Depth Look

Stunning machinery is not solely for the creation of cars and other industrial fabrications. Advanced technology is essential for brewing the perfect cup of espresso too. For the ideal balance of flavors every single time, you need the ultimate machine. Rocket Espresso has once again mastered the art of brewing coffee with the second version of their already promising R58 model espresso machine.

The Rocket R58 Espresso Machine offers everything that the original model had with major improvements. The primary feature that will delight anyone who uses—and drinks—the espresso from this machine is the PID temperature control technology. PID technology has revolutionized the way people brew coffee, treating every single roast and flavor individually to bring out the ideal temperature and taste every single use. Because the R58 Espresso Machine is crafted to enhance the PID controlled boilers, you never have to worry about a poor espresso shot again. For the most discerning of espresso drinkers, that alone is a major selling point. Better espresso faster. What’s not to like?

From the original version to this one, the steam tips have not only been upgraded, there’s an additional one. It is now a 1.2mm diameter hole, and you receive a replacement head just in case the first gets worn out from all the espresso you’ll be making.

Next would be the sleekness of the stainless steel design and easy to access water reservoir. What is cool about the water reservoir is that you don’t have to rely solely on that. The machine can be hooked directly up to water supply with its pump function for fresh water in every single shot. Plus, there is a sensor to indicate when the tank needs to be refilled.

Aside from that, the machine is quite easy to operate. There’s an on-and-off switch that’s indicted by an unlit or lit green light. Simply switch it on then choose your desired temperature on the USB-connected control box. There’s a nifty feature where you cannot only choose the temperature, you can display it in Celsius or Fahrenheit and move between a variety of languages. The control box more or less allows you to customize anything without much guessing involved. Whether you buy this machine for home or for a restaurant, anyone can use it immediately.

Pros

  1. Resilient and durable design. Every single Rocket Espresso R58 is fabricated in Italy—by hand! Therefore, while no two R58s are the same, you know you are receiving uncompromised quality.

Also, from the first and second versions, the R58 has been given a stronger chassis to prevent warping during delivery.

  1. The dual boilers are powerful, provided wonderful heat retention, and pump out some serious steam. When you need several cups of espresso at one time, this machine won’t leave you waiting.

Potenial Cons

Some may find one small issue with the machine, and that would be the connection to the control box. While nothing major, you have to keep the electronic control box connected to the machine via USB cable. Additionally, the USB port and cord can get damaged if the machine is in a high traffic area, should one accidentally splash liquid against the console or accidentally drop or crush the control box.

Overall, it’s a first-rate machine—definitely 5-stars. The R58 looks amazing wherever you put it, has only a small learning curve, and makes a fantastic shot of espresso. The pressure this machine generates is unrivaled. Read How to Make Espresso at Home.
