  • Orchestrale Nota Commercial Espresso Machine - White Tempered glass panels (B315)

Orchestrale's Nota espresso machine with white tempered glass panels was the first prototype we received. Just like unprofessional portraits of Hawaii, pictures do not do the Nota espresso machine any justice.  The Nota is Orchestrale's entry level commercial grade machine for the home. At first, when we were evaluating the sample model, we just thought of another E61 grouphead espresso machine with a heat exchanger. However, after placing the sample in our showroom and using it for training and demonstrating, we as well as our customers learned a few things.

First and foremost, no matter which espresso blend we used, the notes of the flavor profile were spectacular! Now, we know know why this machine was called the Nota! Compared to many other competitive E61 grouphead heat exchanger espresso machines, we figured out why. Even without any PID temperature controller, the Nota's larger boiler, coupled with a specific sized restrictor in the thermosyphon loop, contributed to a more stable temperature profile, but at the same time, the variation in temperature would contribute to a superior extraction and flavor profile. We feel the espresso extractions coming out of this unit in a double blind taste test would compete well in scoring with any double boiler machine.

This leads us to steaming power. With a three (3) liter boiler, this machine has plenty of power in the steaming department.

Add in the adjustable rotary vane pump and the capability to switch between direct plumb in (water line and/or drain line), and we have a WINNER!

After a visit from the folks at Orchestrale in October, 2014, our complete evaluation of the sample unit (at the end of January 2015), and our suggestions for improvements genuinely accepted by Orchestrale, we decided to move forward with ordering the Nota from Italy.

The white tempered glass side panels will complement most kitchens. Inside the glass, there is a small barrier to protect from heat build up. The white model also has joystick controls for hot water and steam.

    • E61 grouphead - Hot water circulates from the heat exchanger through the grouphead and back to keep the grouphead and your portafilter nice and hot.
    • Cup warmer area - large, almost 10" square, stainless steel passive cup warmer area
    • Separate black plastic tank cover is covered by its own stainless steel cover so cups do not have to be removed for refilling
    • Removable stainless steel platform for extracting espresso into smaller cups - less distance means less crema breakup
    • Tall cup extractions - remove the cup platform for small cups, and increase the height for the cups. Double portafilter allows almost 4.5" cups, and the single portafilter allows almost 4.25" cups.
    • Adjustable feet for those uneven counter tops
    • Lever adjustment valve underside allows changeover of water supply from tank/reservoir mode to direct plumbing water line mode or vice versa. Lever pointing to right side means tank mode and point to left side means direct water line plumbing mode
    • Switch under cup warmer tray sets the electronics for tank/reservoir mode or direct plumbing mode
    • Under side water line connection is capped to prevent particulates from entering pipe
    • Front and rear panels are made of satin finished stainless steel
    • Low water level (capacitive) detector in reservoir
    • Boiler pressure gauge: Indicates steam boiler pressure. Measures from 0 - 3 bar. Acceptable range is 0.8 to 1.3 and it fluctuates while machine is operating
    • Pump pressure gauge: Indicates brew pressure during espresso extraction. Measures from 0-16 bar. Please note that the only time this gauge should be looked at is when extracting espresso. At all other times, the reading is irrelevant.
    • Commercial grade multi-directional steam wand and hot water wand allows for more speed. The wands are not insulated and thus provide faster steaming/frothing of milk over 'no-burn' steam wands. No-burn or cool touch wands are available as an option. Please note that no-burn wands operate at approximately 50% of the power or commercial grade wands.
    • Manual three way valve: Allows quick removal of portafilter after espresso extraction.
    • Satin-finished stainless underlying steel frame
    • White tempered glass body panels
    • Rocker-type on/off switch
    • Green power light
    • Red light inidicates low water level in reservoir during tank mode only
    • Machines beeps when low water level in reservoirduring tank mode only
    • Removable water reservoir or ability to plumb in a water line and ability to drain the drip tray
    • High-grade overpressure valve during the espresso extraction allows excess 'cold' water pressure to drip tray (not the reservoir). This was an improvement we asked for.
    • Pro-grade vacuum breaker valve (anti-syphon) on top of boiler and capped to prevent internal water spillage
    • Commercial grade rotary pump and motor
    • Full size pressurstat (regulator), like that on commercial machines, monitors boiler's steam pressure (temperature indirectly)
    • Stainless steel cover over heating element in case of any water spillage over cup warmer grate
    • 3 liter copper boiler
    • Removable stainless steel drip tray and cover
    • Illuminated back panel lights up NOTA
    • Accessories: single spout portafilter with single cup filter basket, dual spout portafilter with two cup filter basket, ~57 3/8" BSPP stainless steel braided hose for water line connection, drain hose,
    • Tamper and scoop are not included with purchase
    • Warranty: 2 years parts and labor

    • Measurements: 17.75" H x 14.5" W x 18" D (45 cm H x 37 cm W x 46 cm D).
    • Weight: ~66 pounds (30 kilograms).
    • Power: 1500 watts, 120 volts, 60 hertz.
    • Boiler capacity: 3 liters.
    • Water tank capacity: ~68 fluid ounces (measured by 1st-line)

    • This machine is approved by the manufacturer for HOME USE ONLY. Any commercial use will void all warranties.
    • This machine can only ship on a pallet and overnight or expedited delivery services are usually not available. Shipping via common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc) will almost guarantee damage and breakage.
    • This machine will be delivered on a pallet at curbside. Inside delivery charges may be expected by the driver if you request inside delivery services.
    • To prevent limescale build up, we suggest using an Oscar150, found on our web site, in a pitcher to change calcium and magnesium to low level salt.
    • Please make sure the switch under the cup warmer tray is switched to tank when using the reservoir for the water supply. If this switch is left in plumbed mode, the Nota will still operate, but it will not power down the machine nor beep when the reservoir runs out of water. This can cause serious damage to the heating element as well as pump.
    • All panels are secured with allen key screws (allen keys not included with purchase)
    • The drain line for the drip tray is an independent of using the machine in water tank/reservoir mode or direct water line plumb mode.
